Support Coordinator - TWBSS

  • Full time, fixed term to 31st October 2022 - $69k annual salary (pro rata) + superannuation + salary packaging benefits + leave loading

Wellways, in partnership with Latrobe Regional Hospital and Beyond Blue, has successfully won a tender to deliver The Way Back Suicide Service (TWBSS) in the Gippsland region. TWBSS is a suicide attempt after-care service that was developed by Beyond Blue to fill the gap in the continuity of care for people discharged from hospital after a suicide attempt. It is designed to prevent deaths by suicide, fill an unmet need in the community and health system and be a cost-effective and sustainable model.

The role of the Support Coordinator is to participate in intake and assessment processes and support those who have been referred to Wellways from Latrobe Regional Hospital. You will provide non-clinical care and individualised support to people and their families and carers who are referred to the service for the first three months following a suicide attempt. You will be required to travel across the Gippsland region.

The role is full-time, fixed-term til 31st October 2022

What do you need?

  • Minimum Diploma level qualification and experience in working in a support role for people with mental health challenges
  • Experience in the human services or related sector including individual and family support worker and intake and assessment experience
  • Experience in working with people bereaved through suicide or experience in dealing with severe personal trauma
  • An understanding of recovery principles and/or strengths-based principles
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with people from a variety of backgrounds including CALD and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
  • Evidence of the Right to work in Australia
  • Evidence of, or a willingness to undergo a National Police Records Check, Working with Children Check-employment, NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate and DWES clearance
